I am a paper waster. I always have been. I scribble endless notes on random pieces of paper - trees and trees full of random paper.
Today, I was headed out to grab some more paper to waste - this time in the form of a 2014 agenda - so that I could busily fill pages with high hopes for the year that would likely be unmet (and the book would likely be ignored for months on end), when I decided that this should be the start of my 2014 resolutions.
I will waste less paper. I will try to use virtual sticky notes and alternatives to my endless scribbling.
Beyond that my goals are -
1) Take up Rowing. Living in front of the Lagoa Rodrigo das Freitas in Rio de Janeiro, this has been on my list for some time. 2014 will be the year I do it.
2) Run a marathon.
In 2013, I ran 2 half marathons and a couple of 10k`s. This year, I will tackle the beast.
3) Watch less TV
In 2013, for the first time
4) Read 52 books.
This should pair nicely with goal #3. I also hope to buy fewer print copies and read more E-books, in order to keep with the goal of killing fewer trees.
5) Eat less Pizza.
Once a week is more than enough.
6) Volunteer More
7) Travel in Brazil
In 2013 I visited 4 capitals and several cities I had never been to before. In 2014, I hope to visit at least 6 more Brazliian states for the first time.
8) Travel to Europe
I hope to put that world cup to better use.
9) Take Better Care of Myself and My House.
Try to keep things neater and closer to Brazilian standards. I`ll try to get my nails done more than once a month and get help with housework if needed.
I will also, maybe, try going to the gym.
10) Be less busy.
Hopefully, trying to eliminate some of the disorganization, distractions and needless "busy work" will allow me to meet all of these other goals, while feeling less stressed.
